There are a number of different options depending on how you choose to get across the English Channel. Gîte rental prices do not include travel costs.  Whether traveling via Ferry or Euro-Tunnel, once you arrive in France here are the distances. (According to Google Maps 2020)

Before we moved to France permanently, I would come over every three months to fish, so I became quite experienced at planning the easiest/most cost effective and least exhausting route across. In the beginning I would always go by EuroTunnel, but I soon worked out that there was no proper rest period on the train and the drive down would drain me and I'd need a full day to recover.  Portsmouth to Caen/St Malo or Newhaven to Dieppe ferries mean for a shorter drive in France, you get a proper rest on board the ship, Péage costs are much less, it is even possible to get here without using the Péage, (although that takes a little longer), less fuel and less recovery time from the big drive.  (This is just my personal opinion of course!!)

All journeys are based on non stop driving times and motorway (Péage) tolls are based on 2021 charges.
